For one of our clients, we are currently looking for an experienced Senior Pension Actuary to join their team in Mechelen.
Our client is a leading Belgian specialist in pension funds and Employee Benefits, providing actuarial and strategic services to major Belgian pension funds and corporate organisations.

The company has strong expertise in pension fund management, funding, ALM, IFRS/IAS, pension plan design and regulatory matters, supporting its clients with complex actuarial and strategic challenges.
Role
As a Senior Pension Actuary, you will be responsible for your own client portfolio, mainly consisting of pension funds and large corporate organisations.
You will act as a trusted actuarial advisor and business owner for your clients, combining strong technical expertise with a solid understanding of their financial, strategic and regulatory challenges.
The role offers broad exposure to pension funds, Employee Benefits, funding strategies, ALM, accounting and regulatory developments, while combining technical expertise with direct client responsibility.
Your responsibilities
Actuarial Management & Pension Funds
- Act as business owner for a portfolio of pension funds and corporate clients.
- Take responsibility for the actuarial management of pension funds, including actuarial valuations, reporting, funding monitoring and advice.
- Perform actuarial calculations and analyses related to pension schemes and Employee Benefits.
- Prepare IFRS/IAS calculations and reports.
- Analyse the impact of changes to pension plans and specific client situations.
- Ensure accurate documentation of actuarial processes and methodologies.
Pension & Strategic Advisory
- Advise clients on funding plans, SIP, ALM, continuity tests and reinsurance.
- Support the design and implementation of new pension schemes and changes to existing pension plans.
- Advise on the impact of new pension legislation and FSMA circulars.
- Contribute to complex cases involving M&A, the Belgian 80% rule, single status and other regulatory or strategic developments.
- Translate complex actuarial analyses into clear and practical recommendations.
Client Relationships
- Act as a trusted advisor and point of contact for your client portfolio.
- Build long-term relationships based on expertise, reliability and client focus.
- Understand clients' specific needs and challenges and adapt your advice accordingly.
- Present actuarial analyses and recommendations in a clear and structured manner.
- Work closely with clients and internal stakeholders to ensure high-quality results.
Quality, Analysis & Continuous Improvement
- Critically and analytically evaluate actuarial processes and methodologies.
- Identify opportunities to make internal processes more efficient and improve quality.
- Contribute to the development and documentation of best practices.
- Share expertise and collaborate with colleagues across different departments.
- Participate in projects aimed at further developing the actuarial services.
Profile
- You hold a Master's degree in Actuarial Sciences, Mathematics, Business Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science or an equivalent quantitative field.
- You have 6 to 10 years of relevant professional experience, ideally within pension funds, Employee Benefits, actuarial services, Life Insurance or a similar environment.
- You have strong knowledge of Belgian pension schemes and actuarial principles.
- You have experience with topics such as IFRS/IAS, funding, ALM, pension plan design and regulatory developments.
- You are able to communicate complex topics in a clear and structured manner.
- You have strong communication skills and enjoy working with colleagues across different departments.
- You work independently and in an organised manner and are able to manage different projects and priorities effectively.
- You are strongly client-oriented and able to build professional relationships based on trust.
- You are fluent in Dutch and have a good professional knowledge of French.
