Senior Accountant Right Hand of Finance Manager in Brussels

One of our clients is actively looking for a Senior Accountant Right Hand of the Finance Manager in Brussels.

Our client is a Belgian investment and real estate group active across several sectors including real estate development, hospitality, student housing, and lifestyle concepts.

With operations across multiple European countries and a portfolio of diverse entities, the organization combines entrepreneurial spirit with a long-term vision. Following a recent restructuring into a holding structure, the finance department is being strengthened to support the group's continued growth and operational excellence.

To reinforce the accounting team, our client is looking for a Senior Accountant who combines strong technical accounting expertise with autonomy and a proactive mindset.

The Role

As Senior Accountant, you will play a key role within the finance team and oversee the accounting activities of several entities within the group.

Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, you will take ownership of end-to-end accounting processes, contribute to financial closings, and act as a senior point of reference within the accounting department.

This position offers significant visibility within the organization and the opportunity to contribute to ongoing process improvements and system implementations.

Role

Manage the full accounting cycle (A-Z accounting) for multiple entities
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual closings
Ensure compliance with Belgian accounting and tax regulations
Prepare VAT declarations and support tax-related matters
Coordinate with external accounting and audit partners
Review and monitor accounting entries and reconciliations
Support intercompany accounting activities when required
Participate in the implementation and optimization of accounting processes and systems
Contribute to financial reporting and management information
Act as a senior support and point of reference for the accounting team

Profile

Experience

Minimum 5 years of experience in A-Z accounting
Experience gained in an accounting firm (fiduciary) is highly valued
Alternatively, solid in-house accounting experience with exposure to tax and closing activities
Experience managing multiple entities is an asset

Technical Skills

Strong knowledge of Belgian GAAP
Experience with monthly and annual closings
Good understanding of VAT and corporate tax principles
Advanced Excel skills
Interest in accounting systems and process optimization
Experience with modern ERP environments is a plus

Languages

Fluent French
Professional English (minimum B2)
Dutch is considered an asset
