Compliance Oppportunity (AML/KYC) for a Bank in Antwerp

For one of our clients, we are actively looking for a Compliance Officer with experience in AML/KYC based near or in Antwerp.

Are you looking to further develop your expertise in AML and Client Due Diligence within an international financial institution? Do you enjoy analysing complex client situations, advising stakeholders and helping build a strong compliance culture?

Our client is seeking a Medior Compliance Officer to reinforce its Belgian Compliance department. This role offers the opportunity to work in a highly regulated environment where integrity, risk awareness and collaboration are at the heart of every decision.

Based in Antwerp, you will become part of an experienced compliance team supporting the business while ensuring the organisation continues to meet the highest regulatory standards.

Role

As a member of the second line of defence, you will provide expert guidance on client integrity matters while contributing to the continuous improvement of the AML and Compliance framework.

Your responsibilities will include:

Client Due Diligence & AML

  • Review complex client onboarding and periodic review files using a risk-based approach.
  • Provide guidance on enhanced due diligence for higher-risk clients.
  • Challenge KYC assessments prepared by operational teams where necessary.
  • Evaluate unusual client activity and assist in determining appropriate escalation measures.
  • Support the organisation in complying with AML and Counter-Terrorist Financing obligations.

Compliance Oversight

  • Perform independent monitoring activities to assess the effectiveness of AML and CDD controls.
  • Participate in thematic reviews and second-line quality assessments.
  • Identify regulatory or operational weaknesses and recommend practical improvements.
  • Contribute to strengthening the overall Compliance Risk & Control Framework.

Advisory & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as a trusted compliance advisor for business stakeholders and management.
  • Explain regulatory requirements in a practical and business-oriented manner.
  • Assist operational teams with complex compliance questions.
  • Collaborate closely with Risk, Legal, Operations and Internal Audit.

Regulatory Projects & Governance

  • Participate in compliance improvement initiatives and regulatory implementation projects.
  • Support policy updates and internal governance activities.
  • Assist during regulatory inspections and internal or external audits.
  • Prepare analyses and reporting for senior management when required.

Profile

We're looking for a compliance professional who combines technical expertise with sound judgement and a pragmatic approach.

You ideally bring:

  • At least 3 years of experience within Compliance, AML, CDD or KYC in the financial services sector.
  • A solid understanding of AML/CTF legislation and customer due diligence requirements.
  • Previous exposure to a second-line compliance environment is considered an advantage.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and the confidence to assess complex client situations independently.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at different organisational levels.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to take ownership of your work.
  • Fluency in Dutch and English; knowledge of French is considered an asset.

Offer

You will join an organisation where compliance is recognised as a strategic business partner rather than simply a control function.

The company offers:

  • A permanent position with significant autonomy and responsibility.
  • Exposure to international regulatory topics and challenging client files.
  • Collaboration with experienced compliance professionals and senior decision-makers.
  • A supportive culture that values initiative, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Extensive training and career development opportunities.
  • A flexible hybrid working environment with modern offices in Antwerp.
  • A competitive salary ranging from €4.200 to €5.300 depending on your level of experience
  • Accompanied by fringe benefits such as insurances without any participation, annual bonus (collective and individual), net allowance for your homeworking expenses up to €200 per month
