Field Engineer

Our client is expanding its Autonomous Mobile Robotics (AMR) business and is looking for an experienced AMR Field Engineer to join a growing team focused on industrial automation and robotics.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative automation projects, combining hands-on engineering, industrial system integration, customer support, and technical pre-sales. You'll initially support an established industrial automation business before gradually transitioning into full-time Autonomous Mobile Robot projects as the division continues to grow.
Role
AMR Installation & Commissioning
- Install Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) at customer sites.
- Install and configure charging stations.
- Map and teach robots their operating environment.
- Commission complete AMR systems.
- Validate hardware functionality before customer go-live.
Industrial Integration
Integrate AMRs into existing production environments using industrial automation technologies, including:
- PLC communication
- SCADA
- OPC
- Industrial communication protocols
- Machine-to-machine communication
- Conveyor integrations
You'll play a key role in ensuring seamless communication between autonomous robots and customer production equipment.
Hardware Engineering
- Perform mechanical modifications.
- Complete electrical installations and connections.
- Carry out machine adjustments and upgrades.
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues.
- Work with conveyors, motor drives, and PLC-controlled machinery.
Documentation
- Prepare commissioning reports.
- Document communication architecture.
- Produce installation and integration documentation.
- Complete customer handover documentation.
Customer Support
- Train customers following installation.
- Support production start-up.
- Troubleshoot technical issues.
- Provide post-implementation support.
Technical Pre-Sales
Support the commercial team by:
- Evaluating different AMR technologies.
- Advising on technical feasibility.
- Demonstrating hardware capabilities.
- Assisting with solution design.
Profile
Required Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial automation, field service, or commissioning.
- Strong knowledge of PLCs.
- Experience with SCADA and OPC.
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols.
- Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting experience.
- Hardware integration and commissioning experience.
- Comfortable working independently on customer sites.
- Strong customer-facing communication skills.
